I hate those ‘inspirational’ sayings that try to ‘inspire’ you to think/act yourself out of depression by being like ‘no one wants to date you if you’re sad all the time.’ Well no fucking shit. I don’t even want to date myself, and yet I’m trapped in the same body with the depression and I cannot be happy to please others or conform to their idea of pleasantness. And that’s rather deceitful, isn’t it? To pretend that you’re happy when you’re not simply to attract a mate and then suddenly the depression/self-esteem issues flare up again and they’re taken completely by surprise and then you’re left even more depressed because they couldn’t handle it and left.
And washing your hair every day? News flash, that’s actually really, really horrible for your hair. Shampoo strips the natural oils your hair produces and leaves it brittle and far more prone to breaking. If you must wash your hair every day, use conditioner every day and at least a deep oil treatment every two weeks. Other than that, simply do the old 100 strokes of the hairbrush and wash your hair as you feel you need.
